Recurring Dream

Description

One recurring dream when I was a child is me walking past houses on the same street that slopes upward making it more and more of a struggle to reach wherever I needed to arrive at. More than a decade later, the dream came back. The same street and houses but this time it wouldn’t leave me guessing again. I dreamed, the following night, of the much awaited destination I wondered about for years when I was young.

When I decided to paint this dream, I wondered what it really meant. Once is already intriguing but countless times? It becomes one of those things you’ll forever ponder about. I dreamed of this at night, when I nap in the afternoon, and sometimes when I space out sitting somewhere, I would experience it and I remember the young me, snapping out of it, and saying “dejavu” aloud.

Yes I dreamed it again after more than a decade, almost two. That same dream visited me just right after I finished this piece. It was as if I summoned it back. I asked, “Will this repeat again and again, again? What a relief when it did not. because the following day I dreamed of the continuation of this dream. Check it out. It’s called Cliffside.
