The Story: Why Chromatherapy Art?

Chromatherapy Art Series was born out of gut feeling. I was working on my freelance job while also indulging on my art when I somehow felt the nudge to “inquire” about chromatherapy. My work was around the niche of zen and meditation for that client and it falls under the very things that really pique my interest since I was young.  I have been, as a child very curious about things that are healing. Growing up, I have had my phase of delving into aromatherapy oils and diffusers as well as a phase when I was into crystal healing. I cant say it’s a general interest towards the metaphysical because I never thought of it as beyond normal.

So when I looked into chromatherapy, and the frequencies of the entire  color spectrum and what it correlates to, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, it became so obvious to me that color that is presented in art, can be a form of healing modality. Since I was already starting to revive my gift for making art, my overthinking mind got me to the conclusion that I could make chromatherapy art!  If there are light therapies where you bask under colored light, then one can feast on colors via art as well.

It was a no brainer for me. Light enters the eyes and the effects on the nervous system can be felt. This isn’t something new. There were places where they color the pavements pink to reduce violence; hospitals choosing green curtains to induce relaxation and therefore healing. Monochromatic art, however, has seemed more like an artistic choice or at most symbolically defining mood and emotion rather than purposefully created to effect healing benefits of colors. They still do even if unintentionally. I, on the other hand, just wanted to be intentional about it.

The Emerald Dragon’s Gate

This piece began as a New Year’s welcome — painted in the last days of December and completed in the dawn of 2024, the Year of the Dragon. Anchored by the green Chinese dragon, it is a portal into heart-based strength, regeneration, and the infinite wisdom of nature.

A halved kiwi radiates from the center like solar rays, seeding the composition with vitality. Wrapped around it: a pair of peacock feathers — shaped as an infinity loop, or the number 8 — aligning with the sacred geometry of the year 2024.
Weeks after its completion, I discovered uncanny parallels in symbolisms linked to Queen Guinevere and the divine feminine — mirroring the exact structure of this piece.

The Emerald Dragon’s Gate is not just a painting — it is a convergence point, a memory of the future, and an initiation into unseen realms of heart-centered power and grace. Of course the color green promotes healing and in the Chakra system, it is associated with the heart-space. I believe much of our ailments or our troubles really are rooted in the heart blockages and toxic burdens. I used to squint the first time I saw the piece after it’s all done, but the more I immerse myself into it, I find that it has become my favorite. I gradually felt how refreshing it is to look at and I feel the lightening in the heart area.
